Luaine Lee Young, known as Lue to most, peacefully left this earth on May 27, 2020.  She blessed her parents, Ralph and Mildred Davidson, as well as older sister, Barbara, by completing their family on March 15, 1934 in Oshkosh, Nebraska.  Lue married Robert, "Bob", Young and over the next several years welcomed sons Terry, Cole, and Bart.

Lue enjoyed meeting people, and her occupations often afforded her this opportunity.  Bob and Lue managed a motel in Craig, Colorado for about 8 years before moving to Ft. Morgan.  She was also employed for many years at Business Mart and Cover Theater, both centers of activity in Fort Morgan.

Lue truly loved the outdoors, especially the mountains.  She eagerly anticipated the yearly summer vacations when her whole family would come together for a week in the high country, a tradition lasted for over 30 years.  Even when walking became a challenge and her endurance declined, Lue would say that she needed her "mountain fix".

Lue disliked the cold winters in Colorado and was blessed to be able to visit her sister Barbara in McAllen, Texas between January and March, several times in her later year.  She would tease her family that while it was cold in Colorado and Washington, she was outside picking a grapefruit to enjoy for breakfast.  She and Barb were able to experience the culture in Mexico as it was a short car ride away.  They immersed themselves in the activities of their retirement community.  Lue's favorite was being part of the Kitchen Band in which members used kitchen items to make music.

Lue was always an avid reader.  One of her favorite authors was James Patterson.  She also enjoyed watching sports and was a HUGE Broncos fan.  She was quite knowledgeable, and could make calls before the referees would!  She also enjoyed watching the Food Network or reading cookbooks, and copying recipes.  She was happiest being in the kitchen cooking or baking.  She made the BEST fried chicken!  However, Lue was famous for her spaghetti sauce.  It was almost always requested for family gatherings or special occasions, and she was more than happy to oblige.  It pleased Lue to put together gift baskets filled with her sauce, a box of spaghetti, a loaf of garlic bread, chocolates, and a bottle of wine. As far as baking, Lue said it just didn't feel like Christmas if every counter and table top in the house wasn't covered with goodies she had baked.

For the past couple of years, Lue lived at the Pines, an assisted living facility at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado.  She gained many friends among the other residents and staff.   While at the Pines, Lue dearly missed her beloved cat, Juji, and would ask for daily updates on her.

Lue was the epitome of strength and courage.  Over the past few years she battled many medical issues, but often bounced back victoriously.  People who knew of the circumstances she had been through were shocked and amazed at her resilience, all the while maintaining her faculties.  Lue fought a rare cancer, Multiple Myeloma, and won.  She was on target to beat it for a second time when she contracted COVID-19.

Her husband and sister preceded her in death.  Family left to mourn her loss are as follows:  Sons and their spouses, Terry and Silvia (Ft. Morgan, CO), Cole and Julie (Spokane, WA), Bart and Susan (Arvada, CO). Grandson Branden and spouse Rachelle (Ft. Morgan, CO), granddaughter Alisha and spouse Luke Montano (Eaton, CO), granddaughter Danika (Ft. Collins, CO), granddaughter Jessica and spouse James Martin (Spokane, WA), grandson Jake (Spokane, WA), granddaughter Nicole (Arvada, CO), great-grandchildren Rachel, Tyson, and Ross Montano, and Cody and Alice Martin.

Lue's family will get together at a later date to share their memories of this wonderful woman and comfort each other.  It most likely will take place up in the mountains. The immeasurable depth of Lue's love and the light of her soul will forever leave an impression on those whom she cared for and loved. She will be sorely missed.
