Lucille Caroline Kembel, 68 lifelong Morgan County resident died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in a farming accident near Brush. On January 16, 1939 Lucille entered this life as abruptly as she departed it when she was born in the back seat of her parent's, Jess and Selma (Burkhart) Groves car in Hudson, Colorado. She simply would not wait to reach the hospital in Denver. She graduated from Ft. Morgan High School in 1957. On June 9, 1957 she was married to Kenneth Kembel at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan. They made their home and raised 5 children Northeast of Ft. Morgan. Along with a lifetime of farming, she also worked at various local businesses and organizations such a Coast to Coast, M & H Auto, BOCES, Morgan County and Colorado Greenhouse. After raising her children Lucille continued her education by earning two associate degrees from Morgan Community College and a B.S. in Business Administration from Regis University in 1989. In 2004 she was the recipient of MCC's All-Star Alumni Award for Business. At the time of her death, she was secretary for the Deuel & Snyder Ditch Board, a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan and the Colorado Good Shepherd Home. Her joys were her family, quilting, raising cattle and driving a truck at harvest time. She was also an avid supporter of her husband, children and grandchildren's racing hobbies and school activities. Lucille is survived by three sons, Brian and Brad Kembel both of Ft. Morgan, and Jeff Kembel of New Plymouth, Idaho, one daughter, Penny Mount of Ft. Morgan, two brothers, Jess Groves Jr. of Orchard and Larry Groves of Ft. Morgan, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, two sons, Andy and Timothy, one grandson and her parents. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 10, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Memorial Gifts may be made to the Colorado Good Shepherd Home in care of the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
