Obituary

Luella Schippert, 94, longtime Morgan County resident, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the East Morgan County Hospital. She was born November 4, 1920 in Roggen, CO, to James C. and Lena (Barrett) Clark. When Luella was about 3 years old the Clark family moved to Morgan County, living in the Gary & Brush communities. She attended Brush schools through the 8th grade. On October 20, 1945 Luella married Walter Schippert. The Schippert family lived in Brush for a short time before moving east of Snyder in 1951 where Walter was the caretaker of the North Sterling Reservoir irrigation headgates on the South Platte River for 29 years. After his retirement in September 1980, the family moved to Snyder, where Luella still resided. Luella was a member of the Willard United Methodist Church, Snyder Homebuilders Club, and the Northeast Colorado Council on Aging. She enjoyed oil painting, ink and pastels, crocheting, and tatting. She entered her fine work in the Morgan County Fair for several years and has many ribbons to show for her accomplishments. She also made many lap robes and walker bags for the veterans at the Veteran Administrations hospital. Survivors include her daughter Kathleen (Ron) Barnhill and son Randy (Jana) Schippert all of Brush; grandchildren, Rene (Brett) Lohnes of Fort Collins, CO, Everett (Christie) Barnhill of Sherman, TX, and Amber Barnhill of Livingston, MT; and her great grandchildren, Cynthia Lohnes, Lyndsie Barnhill, Travis Barnhill, Whitney Counts, and Danielle Babcox. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, one infant daughter, two infant sons, one infant granddaughter, two sisters, six brothers, and her parents. Funeral services will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Monday, July 6, 2015. At 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Luella Schippert Memorial Fund c/o the Heer Mortuary.
