Luis Chavez, 26, of Fort Morgan, died Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.

He was born March 2, 1994 in Mexico to Maria Del Rocio Salas & Jorge Luis Chavez-Renteria. Luis has lived in the area for the last 22 years. He was employed with Rico's Concrete in Fort Morgan.

Luis married Jennyfer Dominguez on July 5, 2019 in Fort Morgan.

Luis was a member of Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan and the former drummer for Danza de Matachines there. He loved drumming/music, horses and horse races. He also loved spending time with his family; especially his daughter.

He is survived by his wife, Jennyfer Chavez; and his daughter, Camila Chavez, of Fort Morgan; his parents, Jorge Luis Chavez and Maria Del Rocio Salas Chavez of Des Moines, IA; and his siblings, Jisel, Yahaira, Judit, Yaretzi, and Jorge Chavez, all of Des Moines, IA. He is also survived by his grandparents, Isidra Renteria of Fort Morgan and Maria Del Socorro Meraz and Manuel Salas of Mexico.

Luis was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jose Carlos Chavez.

Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan on Monday, December 14 ^th from 4 – 6 PM with recitation of The Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 15 ^th at 10:30 AM at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
