Lupe Cervantes, 85 of Brush Colorado, passed away Wednesday, March 14 at Washington County Nursing Home in Akron Colorado.

Lupe was born July 25, 1932, in Crowell Texas to Natividad Cervantes & Helena Cano. He was the youngest of 10 children. He was preceded in death by eight siblings and is survived by one sister. Lupe's mother passed away when Lupe was just 8 years old. Lupe was then raised by his older brothers and family members. At the age of 13, Lupe moved to Colorado with his family and made it his home.

He was employed in various agriculture fields but enjoyed and excelled in sheep shearing. Sheep shearing was his passion of 40 plus years. He even got involved with the sheep shearing program thru the local 4H club. Other occupations included seasonal work, Western Sugar, various feed lots, hog farms and several local family farms including the Steve Treadway farm.

Lupe was an avid pool player and in his younger days could often be found at the local pub running the table. He also had a love for animals and enjoyed raising livestock.

Lupe is survived by 14 children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral & interment service will be Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 1:30 PM at the Interment Chapel (gazebo) at the Brush Memorial Cemetery.   Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush from 11 – 1 on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupe Cervantes Memorial Fund c/o Heer Mortuaries.
