LYDIA ECKES, 90, of Fort Morgan, died Friday morning, May 7, 2010 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. She was born July 3, 1919 in Brush to Peter & Elizabeth (Miller) Eckes. She was the fourth of five children. Her family farmed between Hillrose and Merino for several years before moving to Fort Morgan. Miss. Eckes spent most of her life in Fort Morgan, working at Fort Morgan Laundry, Duckwall's, and Bings Laundry, before retiring and doing daycare out of her home. She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Church and also belonged to the Ladies Fellowship at the church. Survivors include her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George Eckes; and three sisters, Marie Eckes, Mollie Lebsock, and Frieda Brandt. Visitation will be Monday, May 10th from 2 – 5 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan. A funeral service will be Tuesday, May 11th at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Evangelical Church, 318 West Seventh Ave., Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
