Lydia Staley, 89, lifelong area resident, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan. Lydia was born December 6, 1919 in Ft. Morgan to George and Mary (Strashein) Pister. She married Harry Staley on October 26, 1941 in Sidney, Nebraska. Harry died in 1967. Lydia was a member of the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and her pets. Lydia loved her grandchildren and they were very important to her. Survivors include two sons, Richard Staley and Robert Staley both of Ft. Morgan, one daughter, Kathy Zurbrigen of Greeley, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, six brothers, George, Dave, Adam, Jake, Johnny and Danny Pister and two sisters, Leah Heardt and Rachel Heardt. There will be a visitation on Monday, November 9, 2009 from 2 until 7 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Ft. Morgan. Memorial Gifts may be made to either the Christ Congregational Church or to the American Cancer Society.
