Obituary

Mary Lucille Simmons, 95, received her eternal reward on Sunday, December 31, 2017, while a patient at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Lucille was born January 22, 1922, in Geronimo, Comanche, OK to Thomas & Lucy (Townley) Richardson.

Lucille married F. E. "Shorty" Simmons on July 7, 1940. They lived in Oklahoma, Washington and California while Shorty served in the US Army. In 1959 the Simmons family moved to the Fort Morgan community. Lucille spent most of her working career in retail sales – the majority working at JC Penney store until her retirement.

Lucille will be fondly remembered for her loved of flowers, especially roses and her rose garden. Her laughter, jokes, and perfect impression of Minnie Pearl are many memories that will be remembered. She was a hard worker and took great pride in her family and her home.

Survivors include her daughter, Florene (Paul) Lintner of Brush; her 3 grandchildren, Paula (Shane) Wilson, Mary (Jude) Tercero and Kevin (Kirsa) Simmons;  9 great grandchildren, Zachary Leonard, Chelsea Leonard, Ausha Michalek, Alex Harcourt, Camille Tercero, Joel (Eva) Tercero, Emma Tercero, Kadra Somerstead - Simmons, and Khobe Sommerstead - Simmons;  and 7 great – great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Ray, a grandson, David, and her parents.

A funeral service will held Friday, January 5, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
