Obituary

Madeline M. Larsen, 89, life resident of NE Colorado, passed away Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born July 3, 1920, in New Raymer, CO, to Charlie & Mildred Fritz. On February 12, 1941, Madeline married Charles E. Larsen in Brush. He passed away on September 9, 1967. Madeline loved to cook. She cooked in several area restaurants for 50 years, including, Brush Livestock of Colorado (both the original location and the location "on the hill"), Crain's Café, Little Bandit Café, and the Drover's Restaurant. Madeline was an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan, and belonged to the Red Hatters. She enjoyed scrap booking. Survivors include her children, Phillip Larsen of Nipton, CA, Phyllis Grotteland of Brush, Maxine Knowles of Petal, MS, and Wayne Larsen of Fort Morgan; 1 sister, Thelma Rabb of Whitaker, CA; 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 daughter, Linda Korbe; 2 sisters, Inez, and her twin sister, Adeline and her parents. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church, 225 W. Bijou in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 -7 PM at the Heer & Dahl Chapel in Fort Morgan. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the First Christian Church of Fort Morgan or to Hospice of the Plains, c/o Heer & Dahl Mortuaries.
