Marci Ann Rees, 49, of Fort Morgan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

Marci was born on July 15, 1975, to Ed & Karen (Meyer) Gerken. She attended Fort Morgan schools and graduated from Fort Morgan High School. After which, she attended Morgan Community College and obtained her associate degree.

Marci loved animals, especially the many cats and dogs she had throughout her life, one of her favorites being her cat, CJ. She was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan. She enjoyed listening to music, especially classic rock, and in years past, she enjoyed spending time with her mom and going antiquing. Marci worked at the west 7-11 in Fort Morgan for the last 14 years, enjoying her daily shift at 6:00 AM.

Marci is survived by her son, James Rees; her father, Ed Gerken; and two brothers, Andy (Dawn) Gerken and Derek (Elise) Gerken, all of Fort Morgan; her sister, Becky (Gage) Steensen of Suamico, WI; and nine nephews, Jacob (Demi), Drew (Aileen), Cody, Conner (Nicole), Trevor (Rita), Devin, Nathan, Thomas, and Philip.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Gerken; her son, Samuel Rees; her nephew, Solly Steensen; and her grandparents, Sol & Letha Meyer and Ruby & Elmer Gerken.

A memorial service will be Monday, February 24th at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church & School in Fort Morgan. Private inurnment will be held in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
