Marcia Iverson, 71, died on May 19, 2017 at her home in Fort Morgan with her family by her side. She was a cancer victim, lived with it with quiet courage for 2 ½ years, from January 2015 until this spring.

She was born May 26, 1945, in a Minot, North Dakota, hospital, a baby girl for Marjorie and August Beyer, who lived near a small town named Makoti, south of Minot. Marcia graduated from Makoti High School in 1963, then from North Dakota State University (at Fargo) in 1967, where she majored in home economics education. In the fall of 1967, her first job was teaching home ec at Devils Lake, ND, where she met Roger Iverson, then a reporter/photographer for the Devils Lake Daily Journal. They were married June 23, 1968, at Makoti and were together for almost 50 years. A son, Russell, was born in 1970 and a daughter, Jill, in 1974. The Iverson family moved from North Dakota to Fort Morgan in 1985. In 1987, she became reference librarian at the Fort Morgan Public Library, where she was widely known for her determination plus ability to find answers to any and all information questions. She retired in 2007 after 20 years.

Marcia was beautiful, smart, and talented. She excelled at everything she did.

She was marvelous in her kitchen. Notably, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinners, especially Thanksgiving Day. She made incredible German chocolate birthday cakes for nearly 50 years, even if it took almost a whole day. She was a hard-working and determined gardener. Her front yard was the prettiest place on Lane Street. She knew how to use a sewing machine, was proud of making things for her children and two grandsons, who came along in 2005 and 2006.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack. She is survived by her husband, Roger; son, Russell of Greeley; daughter, Jill and husband Neil McCorrison of Westminster and their two boys, Ben and Ryan, now 12 and 11.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 24th at 10 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Fort Morgan. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Plains, 100 Broadway, Sterling, CO 80751.

A final note: For most readers of The Times, this obituary will probably be read and soon forgotten. Most copies of today's Times will soon be thrown away. Marcia's husband, son and daughter want something more lasting and have decided on a "little obituary" to be written on her gravestone in the Fort Morgan Cemetery.
