Margaret Maria (Steyaert) Hallahan, 83, passed away July 1, 2011 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. Margaret was born June 4, 1928 in Tielt, Belgium to Frederick and Maria Steyaert. She grew up in Tielt, Belgium and came to the United States in 1949. Margaret lived in Sterling, Colorado and worked a St. Benedict's Hospital as a nurse's aide from 1949 until December of 1950. On December 26, 1950 she married the love of her life, John Hallahan. They operated a dairy farm from 1950 until 2003 and continued farming south of Brush at Gary, Colorado. Margaret was a proud member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and the Bunker Hill Country Club. She loved playing golf and being with her friends, family and grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Leo Hallahan and wife Bertha of Brush, Dennis Hallahan and wife Raina of Brush, Patricia August and husband Rex of Brush and Susan Kauffmann and husband Joe of Thornton, Colorado, two brothers, Jozef of Belgium and Paul of Ireland, thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John who died in 2010 and two brothers, George who lived in Belgium and Roger who lived in Florida. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 2 until 5 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 pm also on Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. Interment will follow in Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts in Margaret's name in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush.
