Margaret Newhouse, 89, passed away from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 3, 2014, at Valley View Care Center in Fort Morgan, CO. She was born on November 7, 1924 in Durant, OK to James Edward Williams & Nell Denton. Margaret married the love of her life, James Newhouse on September 5, 1942. They were married for 59 years before James passed away on Sept. 8, 2001. Margaret moved with James several times while James was a member of the United States Air Force. Margaret worked for many years as a clerk in the County Assessor's office, a job which she dearly loved & retired from. Ill health forced her to move to Colorado to be closer to her daughter & family. She had lived at the Aladdin Assisted Living facility in Brush, CO and then moved to Tribute Homes in Wiggins, CO before she had to move to Valley View about two weeks ago. Margaret's favorite past time was playing skip bo and dominos. She loved to crochet making afghans for lots of friends and family. Margaret enjoyed telling stories to her friends at the assisted living places she lived and they loved being around her. They also loved to camp with very good life-long friends. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Daniel & husband, RW, from Brush, CO; her son, James (Jimmy) Newhouse & wife, Leslie Ann, from Muskogee, OK; her granddaughters, Lola Odom, Oklahoma City, Erika (Daniel) Jessee & husband, Jared, of Denver, and Lindsey (Daniel) Berry & husband, Blake, who live in Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is also survived by 4 great grandkids, Ira, Clyde, & James Mark Odom from Oklahoma City & Madelyn Berry from Kinshasha, Africa. She is also survived by one brother, Bob (Norma) Williams from Nashville, TN. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, James, her mother, Nell, her father, James (Eddie) Williams, her step-mother, Dora Williams, and her brother, Don Williams, San Diego, CA. There will be a family/friends viewing on Monday, Oct. 6, from 5-7 pm at Heer Mortuary in Brush, CO for those who knew Margaret locally. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 10, at 10:00 am at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, OK. Viewing for friends and family will be held on Thursday night from 4 pm to 6 pm at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery in Durant. Friends may make memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron Street, Brush, CO 80723.
