Obituary

With profound love and deep sorrow, the family of Maria (Mary) Antonia Collier, 103, of Wiggins, Colorado, announces her passing on May 13, 2026. Mary left this world with the same grace and strength that defined her life.

Born on July 13, 1922, in Sharon Springs, Kansas, Mary was the beloved child of Jesus and Guadalupe Gomez.  The oldest of five children, Mary grew up learning the importance of family, faith, and hard work. These values guided her throughout life and became a legacy passed down to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Mary was known for a loving heart, dedication to her family, warm smile, and deep faith. Whether through her love of cooking and celebrations, or the way she brought people together, Mary created a sense of belonging wherever she went. Many will remember her gift for making homemade tortillas, sewing and crocheting; and growing all types of flowers, moments that now feel like treasured graces.

Family was always at the center of Mary's life. She especially cherished birthdays and family reunions, believing deeply in the power of togetherness. She created a home where everyone was welcomed, fed, and loved—values that will continue through generations.

Mary built a meaningful life through serving her family in times of health and when those she loved needed help to heal from illness. Her commitment to family made a lasting impact on many.

Mary is survived by her daughter, grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends, who hold dear the memories, traditions, and love she shared. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Collier, parents Guadalupe and Jesus, sisters, Carmel, Julia, and Ruth; and her brother Jim, who welcomed her home with open arms.

A rosary and funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 12th  at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Wiggins, Colorado at 10:30AM. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, to pray together, and to share stories that honor Mary's long and well lived life and legacy.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all whose support, compassion, and prayers brought comfort in Mary's final days.

Con cariño, we remember a life lived fully, lovingly, and with an unwavering devotion to family, culture, and friendship. Mary will be forever missed and forever loved.
