Maria de la Luz Gomez age 58, passed away on Friday May 13 ^th , 2022, at her home in Wiggins, CO., after a courageous battle with cancer. Maria was born on November 23 ^rd , 1963, to Longino Mendoza and Teresa Hernandez. Maria was married to Efrain Gomez, and had four children Grace, Diana, Alvaro, and Estefania.

Maria was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. She fought for her life for eleven years. She was a strong woman, and a true example of no matter what circumstances you are going through faith and family will guide you through difficult times. Maria was a very caring person; she would always have a smile on her face no matter if she was undergoing pain and so many treatments.

Maria is survived by her husband, four children, and six grandchildren. Maria loved to crochet, she was very talented and creative. She loved spending time with her family and friends. During the last years of her life, she spent a lot of time doing crochet for multiple people in her community that loved her craft work. Maria will be deeply missed by her family and friends and will always be remembered as the strongest and most beautiful person inside and out.

The funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20 ^th at St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan, CO.
