Mariam E. "Peggy" Behrendsen, 100 years of age, of Brush, died Friday morning at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born April 12, 1910 in Sterling, Colorado to John and Emily (Woods) Minnig. She married Mike Scheck in Sterling and they had two children, Mary Jane and Jimmy. After their divorce, she moved to Sonoma, California where she delivered mail and worked in an airplane manufacturing plant during WWII. She returned to Colorado where she met and married Jake Behrendsen and they made their home northeast of Akron where they farmed. They retired and moved to Sterling in 1965. She moved to Brush in 1999 to the Tabor Apartments. Peggy enjoyed being on the farm, milking cows, and taking care of her large garden. She also enjoyed playing bingo, and dominos, reading, music, dancing and spending time with friends and family. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Rawlinson, of Salt Lake City, Utah; her granddaughter, Lorenna Rangel McCasland, of Greeley, Colorado; her grandsons, Lou Alvis and Andy Alvis, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; two great granddaughters, Shelly Donkle of Greeley and Korrie Barben of Tooele, Utah; three great grandsons, Philip Rangel of Greeley, Roman Rangel of Loveland, and Michael J. Seelye, of Sterling and 13 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Mike and Jake; one son, James Scheck; one grandson, Murphy Seelye; her sister, Lyra Ferguson and two close friends, Mike Miltonberg and Ted Wolfe. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM at All Saints Lutheran Church in Brush. The service will conclude at the Church.
