Obituary

Marian B. Elling, 82, a resident of the Brush community for about 60 years, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007, at the Valley View Villa Nursing Home in Fort Morgan. She was born April 6, 1925, in Glenwood Springs, CO, to Archibald T. & Beatrice Crutcher. Following graduation from Glenwood Springs High School, Marian attended, and graduated from Colorado Teachers College (now known as the University of Northern Colorado). Her first teaching position was an English teacher at Fort Morgan High School. On June 17, 1949, Marian married John A. Elling in the Glenwood Canyon on the Colorado River. They lived in Riverton, WY, and Santa Monica, CA, before returning to Brush in 1952. Marian taught for several years in the Brush Public School District. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, PEO chapter "T", and several bridge clubs. Her life revolved around her family and friends. Survivors include her sons, Chris, and his wife, Linda, of Greenfield, CA; Jeff, and his wife, Denise, and their children, Caleb, Nicole, and Tanner of Manteca, CA; and Todd of Playa del Ray, CA; and 1 daughter, Kate Haley, and her husband, Pat, and her children, Laura, Ben, and Alison Hamlin all of Fort Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 daughter, Juli Anne, her brother, William Crutcher, and her parents. A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the Heer Mortuary & Crematory, 222 Cameron Street, Brush, CO 80723.
