Marian Elaine Weitzel, 85, lifelong Fort Morgan resident, passed away on September 15, 2016 at The Life Care Center of Stonegate in Parker, CO. Marian was born to Carl H. and Elizabeth (Friehauf) Meininger in Fort Morgan on October 20, 1930. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1948.

Marian married the love of her life, Melvin Weitzel on May 21, 1950 at Christ Congregational Church where they were lifetime members. After their marriage Melvin owned and operated the Conoco Gas Station in Fort Morgan and later     M &H Auto Parts in Sterling. They raised their three children in Fort Morgan.

Marian enjoyed many hobbies and was very active in her community including service on the Heritage Foundation Board; Heritage Foundation Endowment Board; Friends of the Museum; Friends of the Library; The Centennial Commission and the Golf Course Advisory Board. She delivered meals for the Meals and Friendship organization and was a long time member of Hyperion Club.

Marian was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf and gardening, especially her rock gardens. She received the garden of the month award twice and the garden of the year award. She had many close friends that shared her love of bridge and walking. A special hobby in in her later years was fly fishing in the Rockies with her husband and son Tim. Her family was the greatest joy of her life.

Survivors include two daughters, Penni Raines and her husband Sid of Franktown, CO, Jennifer Fearer and her husband Dan of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren, Jamie Overley (husband Ryan) of Denver, Amanda Raines (fiancee' Adam Seela) of Englewood, Samantha Meckes (husband Nathanael) of Montclair, CA and Jonathan Fearer of Denver; one sister Wilma Dill of Fort Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her son Melvin Timothy (Tim) and two sisters Rosalie Dyson and Dorothy Morgan.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in the Serenity Falls Columbarium.
