Marie Lind, a resident of Fort Morgan, passed away at Valley View Villa early Sunday morning, November 14 at the age of 91. She was born May 14, 1919 in Snyder, CO to Alex and Mary Stark and married Edward Lind February 27, 1938 at Immanuel Evangelical Church where they were lifelong members. They farmed SW of Fort Morgan until 1963 when Ed became an ordained pastor and served St. Paul's Congregational Church of Shattuck, OK until 1968 and Zion Evangelical Church of Scottsbluff, NE from 1968 until 1973 when Ed was diagnosed with Alzheimers. They then returned to Fort Morgan. As a farmer's and pastor's wife, then finally caregiver,she understood the true meaning of "help meet". She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lind, parents, Alex and Mary Stark; five brothers: Jake, Alex, Herman, Edward, Harold and six sisters: Emmie Samolin, Birdie Van Woensel, Esther Weimer, Dorothy Thaemert, Elsie Mullison, and Florence Jester. She is survived by her son Eddie and his wife Cindy Lind of Fort Morgan, grandchildren, Shelly Harden and her husband Greg of Arlington Heights,IL and Michael Lind of Denver, CO, four great grandchildren: Seth, Sarah, Joshua, Anna Harden, one sister, Lydia Brandt of Sun City, AZ, two sisters-in-law, Billie Convery of Fort Morgan and Maralyn Stark of Wiggins, and two brothers-in-law, Ray Mullison of Fort Morgan and Walter Jester of Sun City, AZ and many nieces and nephews. Marie's life exemplified her love of God, family, and many friends. Always the gracious and welcoming hostess; pastors, missionaries, college "kids", friends and family from near and far...and perhaps even "angels unaware", found refuge and refreshment in their home. She had a quality of character which combined courage, strength, and perseverance. Even when the viciousness of diabetes ravaged her body, she never complained. She so appreciated the love and care shown to her by the staff at Valley View the last 2-1/2 yrs of her life. She bore up under all of her problems with admirable fortitude and always maintained a positive attitude and an encouraging word for others: her secret of remaining "young at heart, mind, and spirit." She maintained a strong work ethic all her life and "I can't" was never in her vocabulary. Marie Lind was deeply loved and admired and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
