Marie Rose (Turley) Speaker passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.

Marie was born in Proctor, CO on August 9, 1933, to Toliver Jay Turley and Lois (Peterson) Turley. She attended school in Proctor until the family moved to Fort Morgan in 1941. She then attended Fort Morgan schools and graduated with the class of 1951.

Marie married Irvin Leroy Speaker on August 15, 1958, and they lived in Briggsdale, CO where they dryland farmed and raised cattle. Marie was a working partner in the farm operation, driving trucks, bucking bales, and working cattle. In 2008, after losing their home to a fire, Irvin and Marie moved to Fort Morgan to the farm she grew up on.

Marie was a member of Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church where she remained active for many years as Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir, and served as treasurer, elder, deacon, and greeter. In her younger years she served as a room mother and was active in teachers' club and special education at Prairie School in New Raymer. She also served as secretary/treasurer of Marsh Lateral Co. from 1974 to 2013.

Marie enjoyed reading, baking, canning, gardening, doing embroidery, and polka dancing. Her greatest joy though was helping on the farm, and she especially enjoyed branding day.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Speaker, and Mark Speaker; and her grandchildren, Clay Speaker and Orrill Speaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Sylvia Orrill and Kay Croissant; and her brother, Henry Turley.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 6th at 10:00 AM at Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church in Goodrich. From Fort Morgan, take Hwy. 144 West approximately 20 miles. After entering Goodrich, the church will be approximately 200 - 300 yards on the south side of the road. From Wiggins, take Hwy. 39 North into Goodrich. After crossing the river, take the first road going west into Goodrich and the church will be located approximately   200 - 300 yards on the south side of the road.
