It is with great sadness that we convey the passing of our mother Marjorie Ann Blatt. Mom passed peacefully at Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado on June 24, 2024. Mom was born in Humphry, Nebraska on December 28, 1930 to Edward and Hattie (Hap) Helmberger and was one of five children. She had four siblings: Eugene (Gene), Mary Lou (Lou), Elaine, and Maurice (Skip). Her sister, Lou of Fort Morgan, survives mom.
Mom was married to our dad, Robert C. Blatt, and together they had four children. Mom and dad divorced in 1974. Mom never remarried and was steadfast in her love for and dedication to her family. She is survived by her daughters Lynette Rockwell (husband Randy) and Mary Kay Ferracini (husband Terry), and son Mark. Our brother Rick preceded her in death on September 4, 2023. She had eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She will be cremated with interment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
We also rejoice at this time, because we know that God has taken mom home and will restore her with a new body and she will suffer no more. We hold to these biblical truths... For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16), and Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12)
Mom was a devout parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. She taught catechism for a number of years and made sure that her kids attended mass on a weekly basis. The love that she had for God and us kids was unwavering. This was especially prevalent after Rick's accident in 1977 where he was comatose for six months and, once he became conscious, many more months of physical therapy were required to help him partially regain the use of his limbs. The physical injuries left his capabilities in a diminished state. Mom sacrificed everything to be with him then and the 45 years that followed. She truly had a servant's heart and had more than enough love to share with the rest of her family and her grandkids.
On the lighter side, she enjoyed attending her kid's and grandkid's sporting events, as well as, playing card games. When it came to competition, we were all aware that she was "in it to win it." Many an umpire or referee knew when they had made the "wrong call." Make no mistake, she was a warrior!
We want to extend our sincere appreciation to all those at Eben Ezer, East Morgan County Hospital, and various doctors who have attended to mom's needs through the years. After our brother Rick passed, mom was moved from Brush's Eben Ezer to the Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado to be close to the Rockwell family. Our sincere appreciation extends to those working there as well for the care and comfort they provided our mom.
Those of us who have been influenced by our mom's life feel especially blessed and look forward to the day we're all reunited!

Mass of Christian Burial for both Marjorie and Rick will be held July 25, 2024 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brush at 10 AM, followed by inurnment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
