Marjorie Ann Samples, 77, longtime Morgan County resident, passed away Thursday night, September 17, 2009, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley following a short illness. She was born October 13, 1931, in Murray, UT, to Raymond Menzo & Kathryn (Emerick) Jones. In 1933 the Jones family moved to Trinidad, CO and then to Denver in 1936. Marge graduated from South High School in Denver in 1949 and attended Emily Griffith Opportunity School. On August 25, 1950, Marge married Robert Dale Samples at the Grant Avenue Methodist Church in Denver. In 1954 the Samples family moved to the family farm north of Snyder. Marge was secretary of Groundwater Appropriators of the South Platte River Basin (GASP) from its beginning in 1972 until she retired in 1989. Marge was a former member of the Fort Morgan Country Club, a member of the Fort Morgan DOES #236, the Fort Morgan Women's Golf Association, and the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, arrowhead hunting, gardening, crocheting, and many art and craft projects. She also enjoyed being a "snowbird" living in Arizona in the winter months. Survivors include her husband, Robert of Brush; son, Curtis Samples of Fort Morgan; daughters, Connie Ingmire, and her husband Dale of Brush, and Patricia Samples-Ehrlich, and her husband Greg of Wiggins; 4 grandsons, Tyler Ingmire, and his wife Natalie, Lucas Ingmire, Eric Ingmire, and Casey Samples; and 2 great-grandchildren Jared and Elizabeth Ingmire,. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and her parents. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 24, 2009, at the United Methodist Church 117 E. Bijou Street in Fort Morgan at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church c/o Heer & Dahl Mortuary.
