Martha F. Larsen, 99, former Brush & Woodrow resident, passed away Sunday at the Hospice Center at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. She was born October 26, 2906, in Denver, to Conrad & Henrietta Lebsack. She grew up on the family farm east of Berthoud, CO, and graduated from Berthoud High School. In 1931 Martha received a Life Certificate from Colorado State Teacher's College, now known as the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley, to teach intermediate grades in the State of Colorado. She taught school form many years in one room schools, teaching grades one through eight. She taught school in Loveland, Fort Collins, and Woodrow. On August 26, 1933, Martha married Leonard H. Larsen of Woodrow. After retiring from teaching, Martha was a homemaker, traveled extensively all over the world, visiting all continents, including the Holy Land. Following the death of Leonard on April 27, 1974, Martha moved to Loveland in 1975 to be closer to family. She volunteered at McKee Medical Center for a number of years and was a member of the McKee Hospital Auxiliary. Martha was a sports fan, enjoying football and baseball. She enjoyed her home, her yard, and especially tending her flowers, roses always being her favorite. Martha touched many lives. She had no children of her own, but she loved all children. She was the only surviving child of a family of seventeen children. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Con, Fred, Jake, Carl, Adolph, John C., and Sam C. Lebsack; her sisters, Mary Wietzel, Lena Stroh, Elizabeth Stroh, Frieda Deines, Dolly Walters, Evangeline Gettman, Leah Deines, Ester Hoffman, and her twin sister, Henrietta Vandever. She is survived by many friends and loving relatives, namely her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel 222 Cameron Street in Brush on Friday at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary on Friday from 9 - 12. Memorial gifts may be given to the Hospice of Larimer County c/o Heer Mortuary.
