Obituary

Mary Rose Bostrom, 100, longtime Morgan County resident, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born March 23, 1917, in Peckham, CO to Henry & Lydia Kembell.

Mary married Robert Bostrom on January 15, 1939, in Hillrose. Together they farmed and raised their family northeast of Brush.

Mary was very active in many endeavors in Morgan County. She was a member of the Immanuel Congregational Church where she served in the local church as well as the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Congregational Church. She was also a member of the DOES, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Extension Homemakers, Morgan County & Colorado Cowbells (auxiliary organization of the Cattlemen's Association), Republican Women's Organization, EMCH auxiliary, Charter Member of the American Society of the Germans from Russia; the Fort Morgan Heritage Foundation, Farm Bureau where she had served as a district and state officer. She was involved with the committee that helped start Morgan Community College. She was also a charter member of the Parents Association for the State Home and Training School, and was a member of the Polka Lovers Club of America. Until ill health forced her to stop, she played the drums for the Senior Band for over 20 years. She has always enjoyed dancing and looked forward to going to several different locations where she could meet and dance with family & friends.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Howard of Fort Morgan, Richard of Denver, and Leslie of Sterling, CO; and 2 sisters, Helen Ball of Denver and Lydia Schleining of Thornton, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; 1 son, Lester; 8 sisters, 3 brothers and her parents.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Congregational Church in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the East Colorado Developmental Services c/o the Heer Mortuary.
