Mary Jo Doughty – Rudell, 71, Weldona, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Valley View in Fort Morgan.

She was born in Brighton, CO on December 02, 1949, to Joseph & Josephine Schoenberger. A middle child of six sisters, her family operated a Dairy/Farm in the Fort Lupton area. She graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1967.

Mary Jo married Robert (Bob) Doughty in Brighton in November of 1969.

They began their Farming/Ranching careers in the Fort Lupton area in 1972, and moved it to the Weldon Valley area in 1977. Mary Jo took on a majority of the farming and ranching operations, as Bob worked away from home to support their family.

Mary Jo worked as a substitute rural mail carrier for nearly 20 yrs. She also obtained a Real Estate License, and sold Real Estate for a number of years with Wheeler Realty in Fort Morgan.

Following the death of Bob in 2001, she married John Rudell in Fort Morgan in September of 2015. He offered her wonderful companionship. They were a blessing in each other's lives.

Mary Jo was a wonderful avid gardener, she enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards and tending livestock.  Some of her favorite times were spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by:  Her husband John Rudell; her three children, Dianne Parker, Jennifer (Kevin) Rhode and Matthew Doughty; step-son J. J. Rudell; seven grandchildren Cody Parker, Sara Parker, Cora Rhode, Jena Parker, Luke Rhode, Timothy Rhode and Gideon Doughty; three sisters, Janet (Delbert) Brewer, Rhonda (Mark) Theisen, and Bernice (Mike) Masters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Bob, and two sisters Dorothy Johnson, and Geri Fells.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan at 11:00 AM.  The family invites you to gather with them after the service for a luncheon at The Hall (Formally VFW) 208 W. Beaver.  A private inurnment service will be held at a later date at Memory Gardens.  Friends who wish may make memorial gifts may do so to the Chapel of the Plains Church in Stoneham.  Memorial gifts may be sent to the Heer Mortuary.
