Mary Doris Ebendorf, 86. passed away early Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron. She was born February 21, 1927, in Topeka, KS, to Clarence Alfred and Amelia Martha (Tretter) Greer. She was the third of nine children. Mary married Ova K. Ebendorf on December 8, 1945, in Hugo, CO. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past December. Mary had resided in Denver, Littleton, Limon, Lindon, Woodrow, Brush, Last Chance and Akron. Throughout her life, she was always very active. She was involved in the communities where she lived with the rural Extension Clubs, Washington County Fair, 4-H, and her children's school activiities. Mary felt education was important and she completed her GED and Associates in Arts degree at Morgan Community College when she was 59 years of age. Mary enjoyed reading. She had a special heart for her canine friends who were great companions in her later years. She had a passion for art, painting several oil pictures and teaching ceramic classes in her home. She also quilted beautiful quilts for her family. She enjoyed singing, playing the harmonica and guitar. Her creative nature led her to write poetry and short stories. Her artistic character was shown in her pristine gardening. Mary was a stay at home Mom, and a great cook, especially known for her homemade chicken and noodles. She always had her morning coffee and always had a pot brewing. She welcomed guests and portrayed a hospitable and fun nature. Moving to Washington County Nursing Home was difficult for Mary at first. Soon she discovered friends among the other residents and was affectionately known as "The Bingo Queen." Some of her greatest joys were her relationships with treasured friends and winning at bingo. Survivors include her husband Ova; 2 children, Gary Kelsey Ebendorf, and his wife Jimmie; and Valerie Jean, and her husband Buddy Williams; 3 brothers, Jim, Don, and Richard; 3 sisters, Geri, Rose, and Sally; her 2 grandchildren, Slade, and his wife Natalie; & Brittney, and her husband Jedediah; and her 7 great grandchildren, Ryan, Cole, Alex, Nolan, Bryce, Titus, and Lileigh. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margie Lynn and her parents. At Mary's request, no service will be held. Friends who wish may give memorial gifts, cards or flowers to the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron, CO. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Heer Mortuaries & Crematory.
