Mary E. Hale, 96, died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan.

She was born November 1, 1921 in Tipperary, IA to William & Jessie (Corum) Browning. She graduated from high school in Newton, IA and married Raymond Leo Hale on October 19, 1939 in Yakima, WA.

Mary worked in the restaurant business all of her life. She owned and operated Mary's Grill in Fort Morgan for a short time and had also cooked for Stroh's Chicken Inn, The Arrowhead, the Elks Lodge, The Smorgasbord, the Drumstick Café, and the G & O Restaurant.

Mary was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2551. A woman of great faith , she cherished her relationship with God. She attended Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan and the Cowboy Church when she was at Eben Ezer. Mary enjoyed crocheting, playing Chicken Foot, and doing puzzles. She liked watching the Rockies and the Broncos but she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Leola Williams of Englewood, Yvonne Reagan and husband, Patch of Rapid City, SD, Don Hale and wife, Pat of Loveland, John Hale and wife, Marcia of Fort Morgan and Linda Hale of Alamosa. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Schultz of Newton, IA; her daughters-in-law, Susan Hale of Arizona and Cyndy Hale of Fort Morgan; close friends, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Hamilton of Falls Church, VA, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as one step grandson and one step great granddaughter.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hale; five brothers, two sisters; and her sons-in-law, Harry Williams and Bob Schultz.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 22nd from 5 – 7 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 23rd at 2:00 PM, also at the mortuary. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush or to The Stevens House in Alamosa.
