Mary Virginia Jones, 91, longtime Wiggins resident, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at the Valley View Villa Nursing Home in Fort Morgan.  She was born February 15, 1928, in Costa Mesa, CA to Walter & Bertha Maye Heywood.

In 1948 Virginia married John P. Jones at Stanwood Friends Church in McLouth, KS.  In 1960 the Jones family moved to the Wiggins community.  She was a member of the First Denver Friends Church.  While living in Wiggins she attended the Wiggins Community Church.

Virginia enjoyed baking and visiting with her friends.  Her favorite time was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Mary Ellen Mercer (Mark Deuboise) of Wiggins; Edward (Luann) Jones of Sugarland, TX; Tim (Melissa) Jones and Tom Jones all of Wiggins; her sister, Margaret Smelser of McLouth, KS; 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great – great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 brother, Paul Heywood, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at the Wiggins Community Church on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at 4:00 PM.  The service will conclude at the church.  Inurnment will be at a later date at Wild Horse Cemetery in McLouth, KS.
