Mary G. Lara 83, of ft. Morgan, died Saturday evening at her home in Ft. Morgan. She was born December 27, 1923 in El Paso, Tx to Heraclio and Maria Torrez. Mary married John Lara November 27, 1954 in Brush. She enjoyed taking care of her family. She volunteered to help out with several the clubs and activities the children where involved in. She also volunteered her time to help out with Caring Ministries. She worked in several places around Morgan County working in the fields for farmers and working for local people helping take care of their homes, cleaning the inside, and mowing the yards. Mary is survived by her husband John, her children and their families, Rosie Cruz and Joe Lopez, Rick Lara and Dilia, Elizabeth Lara and Arturo, and Fernando Lara and Irene, all of Ft. Morgan, Gregory Lara and Patricia of Los Cruses, Mexico, and Emilio Lara and Connie of Houston, TX , eight brothers and sisters, Margaret Ureste of Ft. Morgan, Joe Torrez and Virginia Lopez both of Elpaso, TX, Inez Baltazar of Wiggins, Fernando Torrez of Denver, Mary Ruth Shimnick of Nebraska, Richard Torrez of Cuba, and Robert Torrez of New Mexico, 35 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister Rosalie Torrez, three brothers, Victor, Alfred and Teresfolo Torrez, one grandson Anthony Cruz and her parents. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-7 pm at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel with a Rosary to begin at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am at the Saint Helena Catholic Church in Ft. Morgan, Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
