Obituary

Mary George Lykins, 61, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado after a long illness. Mary was born October 1, 1945, in Monterey, CA to Joseph and Kathryn George. She attended elementary school in Nebraska, completing 8th grade through high school in Brush, CO, graduating in 1963. She attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Co for one year. She then went to Denver, CO where she completed a beautician course. She was employed in Denver but was forced to change occupations as she became allergic to many of the supplies. She became a successful realtor having won many awards and honors. Multiple sclerosis forced her retirement and she has been a resident of care centers in Colorado Springs and Denver for many years, due to being unable to communicate and move about independently. Mary was an outgoing, pleasant person who loved people, especially children. Because of her thoughtfulness and kindness, Mary donated her hair to Locks of Love for wigs for cancer patients and she also wanted to donate her organs at the time of her death. She also enjoyed cooking. Survivors include her mother, Kathryn George of Brush, CO and a son, Andrew and his wife, Kim, two grandsons, Noah and Jesse and a step-granddaughter, Brittney GonzaleZ, all of Littleton, CO. and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her father and a sister, Linda Ann. A memorial service will be held on July 7 at 11:00 AM at Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron, Brush, CO. Services will conclude there. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to Multiple Sclerosis Society c/o Heer Mortuary.
