Matt was born on January 25, 1984 in Greeley, CO to Laurie Pate and William (Bill) Ruhl. Matt departed this life at age 37 on February 20, 2021.
Matt graduated from Weldon Valley School in Weldona, Colorado in 2003. Matt had recently decided to further his education by studying to become a Certified Addiction Counselor.
Matt enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding the ducks in the park and playing his PlayStation. He enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and football, well when "football was still football". Matt was a lover of music, in fact, he was in a band. The local band's name was Dirtball Glory Punch!
Matt had a way with animals and had many amazing pets including, George the cat, Zeke & Baxter twin Terriers, and Va and Rebel, a couple of rescue dogs that adored him.
Matt worked for Dairy Farmers of America (DFA). He really enjoyed his job and especially the people he worked with.
Matthew is survived by his Mother, Laurie Pate & fiancé, Dewey Grinslade, His Father, William (Bill) Ruhl & wife, Cathy, Older Brother, William, "Billy" Ruhl & Fiancé Lynn Simon, Sister, Brita Pate, Grandmother Dorothy Osborn and many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his Grandpa "Sonny" Groves, "Papa" Harold Ruhl, Don Osborn & "Grandma" Fae Segelke.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Matt on Friday, February 26 th at 11:00 am at The Country Steakout, 19592 E 8th Ave, Fort Morgan, CO 80701
Graveside service has been reserved for family only.
Lunch will not be provided by family, but they would welcome anyone and everyone who would like to stay to fellowship, tell stories, & share fond memories of Matt.
A memorial fund has been set up in Matt's honor. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local non-profit, "Break the Silence Campaign". Memorials sent in may be made out to Billy Ruhl, C/O Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
