Maurice (Barney) N. Jones, 89, life resident of the Weldon Valley, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. He was born August 8, 1922, in Goodrich, CO to Ed & Nellie Jones. Barney graduated from Weldona High School in 1941. On July 28, 1946, he married Wanda Norris. They continued to farm in the Weldon Valley. Wanda passed away January 3, 1984. On December 2,1994 Barney married Eva Westhoff. Barney was very active in his community. He was a member of the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church in Orchard, a life member of IOOF, a member of the Elks Lodge, member of the Weldon Valley Men's Club, served several years on the Weldon School Board and the Weldon Valley Ditch Board, and was a Pioneer seed corn dealer for over 30 years. He enjoyed bowling and boating. Survivors include his wife Eva of Fort Morgan; 3 children, Jon Jones and Renee Velasquez both of Weldona and Susan Wiegel of Fort Morgan; 5 step-children, Deb Sagel, and Theresa Westhoff both of Fort Morgan, Becky Groves of Wiggins, Steve Westhoff of Bellingham, Washington, and Colleen Meredith of Parker, CO; 1 sister, Shirley Schreiner of Wiggins; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda, 1 stepdaughter, Francie Westhoff, 9 brother & sisters and his parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 10:30 AM at the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church in Goodrich. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 7 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church.
