Maxine
Geist
Aug 4, 1944 — Oct 9, 2023
Eaton
Iris Maxine Geist was born on August 4, 1944, in Brush, Colorado to John and Vergie (Cowen) Yearous. She entered eternal life on October 9, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Maxine graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1962 and later attended Morgan Community College.
She married Donald Geist, Sr. on August 15, 1962, in Fort Morgan and to this union, two sons were born, Donald Jr. and Robert.
Maxine worked many years at City Pharmacy before having the opportunity to purchase the business with co-worker Diane Nicklas. She was proud to serve the community in this role for 18 years before retiring. She was also a member of many organizations including the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Morgan Ladies Investment Club, the Morgan County Garden Club, the Fort Morgan High School Booster Club, and the Fort Morgan Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan, where she humbly served in many capacities, most recently as a deacon.
Maxine was also a member of several ladies' bowling leagues, and she held the highest score for a game bowled at Gold Crown Lanes for quite some time with a score of 296.
Maxine lived her life to serve and support others, most of all her family. There was not a birthday, anniversary, ball game, concert, or family event that she missed. She especially enjoyed sharing time with her family camping in the Flat Tops Wilderness near Yampa, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vergie Yearous and her sister Marge Ferguson.
She is survived by her husband, Don Geist, son Donald Geist and wife Shelby, son Robert Geist and wife Terri, granddaughter Kelly Lindner and husband Mitch, granddaughter Ashley Clayton and husband Justin, grandson Trevor Geist and wife Danielle, granddaughter Tori Geist and husband Henry, granddaughter Britt Smith and husband Brett, grandson A.J. Geist and wife Chesa, and granddaughter Miranda Foss and husband Darin. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Cooper, and Reese Lindner, Levi and Reid Clayton, Bryson and Gunner Geist, Austin Najera and Henry Ramirez, Taylynn and Gracie Smith, Kylie, Allen, Benelli, and Eastyn Geist, and Chloe Foss.
Her family is grateful for the example she gave throughout the life she lived. She was patient, kind, tenacious, and strong. Her love was endless, unwavering, and unconditional. She will be missed dearly.
A memorial service will be Friday, October 13th at 10:00 AM at the United Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the church. Private Inurnment will be held in Serenity Falls Columbarium at a later date.
