Long time Fort Morgan resident, Maxine Marie Heaton, passed away at the age of 102 on December 13th, 2021, in Northglenn with her daughters, Donna and Fay by her side. Maxine was born on June 24, 1919, in Berwyn, NE.
Maxine later moved to Pleasant Valley, CO where she met Willet F. (Bill) Heaton at the Pleasant Valley Church. They were married on March 28, 1939, in Sterling. They lived North of Yuma, near Pleasant Valley. Later they settled near Eckley where they farmed for many years. In 1954, they moved to Fort Morgan. In Fort Morgan, Maxine worked as a bookkeeper for Harry Dorn Construction. For many years, Maxine and Willet enjoyed playing cards and marble games with their grandkids, weekend trips with friends to Estes Park, and square dancing. After retirement, Willet and Maxine bought a Prowler camper and enjoyed camping around Colorado and Yuma, Arizona in the winter until Willet's health prohibited them from traveling. After Willet's passing in 1992, Maxine took bus trips with family and friends and spent time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. After 45 years of living in Fort Morgan, Maxine moved to Denver to be closer to her daughter, Fay, where she lived until her passing.
Willet and Maxine had four children, Delna, Donna, Roger, and Fay; eight grandchildren, Jim, Jan, Tim, Randy, Terry, Cyndi, Michael, and Michell; twelve great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren.
Maxine is survived by her three daughters, Delna from Sebring, FL, Donna from Gillette, WY, and Fay from Mesa, AZ, seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 24 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters; her husband, Willet; her son, Roger Heaton; her grandson, Jim Bosewell; her great grandson, Yancy Pierce; and her son-in-law, Bill Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday December 20 th at 1:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, Maxine requested that memorials in her name be sent to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
