Melissa (Missy) Joy Weisser entered this life on September 18, 1975. She was born into a small farming community, Tyndall, in SE South Dakota. She entered Eternal Life September 15th, 2023 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Lakewood, CO.  She succumbed to injuries received in a car accident on Sept. 3rd, 2023.

The family spent several years in the Hasting, Nebraska area.  They moved to Brush in the fall of 1981 following Dad and his new Chemist job at Pawnee Generating Station.  Missy started her educational years that fall at Thompson kindergarten.  A car accident in July, 1992 put Missy in a wheelchair for life, but never diminished her enthusiasm for Life. She graduated from Brush High School in 1994.  She attended college in Pueblo, Colorado for two years, returned to Brush for a short time and then moved to the Denver area for work and to attend Metro State College, where she earned her Bachelor's degree.  Missy spent the majority of her professional working career (26 years) at several Law firms in the Metro area.  She obtained her Paralegal certification in 2013.

Missy was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Colorado in  2014.  She loved showing people how being in a wheelchair didn't determine what you can do in life.  She went to many events promoting Ms. Wheelchair Colorado. After conducting her own funding campaign, she was able to attend the National Miss Wheelchair pageant in Long Beach, Calif.

She enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing before and after her accident. She was up for any adventure. Those who knew her will remember her laugh forever. Missy had a great love of many things in life.  She loved Food (snow crab, but not king crab).  She loved movies, plays, and musicals (Grease, and Phantom of the Opera). She loved dogs (miniature Dachshunds most). She loved rooting for and attending games of her favorite sports teams (Denver Broncos and Colorado Mammoth). She loved dressing up for Comic Con Conventions and Holidays like Halloween.  But most of all, she will be remembered for her love of sharing these things with her family and friends.

Missy is survived by her Father Ken Weisser, Step-mother Kim Weisser, Brothers: Aaron, Adam, Connor, and Nick Weisser, and Aaron Jorgensen; and her 5 beloved Dachshunds: Jasper, Penny, Bruno, Cami, and Hayley. She has a large extended family: 9 Aunts and Uncles, 24 first cousins, and too many 2nd cousins to count. Missy was preceded in death by her mother Peggy (Petersen) Weisser, grandparents Harold and Caroline Weisser, Roy and Gladys Peterson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September  30th at 2:00 pm. at the Snyder Bible Church in Snyder, Colorado.
A social reception will follow at the church.  Missy was a vibrant, cheerful, colorful person in life.  She will be remembered as someone who smiled and laughed all the time. She would have enjoyed seeing all her friends and family in cheerful attire.  Please no black attire at her Celebration of Life.

A memorial fund in her name has been established at the Snyder Bible Church.
