Melvin Eugene Green Jr, known to many as Mel, passed away surrounded by his family on March 27, 2024, in Fort Morgan, CO, at the age of 77. Mel was born on April 20, 1946, in Sterling, CO, to the late Mabel and Melvin E Green Sr.

Mel was as mischievous, as he was kind. He loved spending time with his family and his friends. He especially loved his dogs, almost as much as he loved his grandchildren. Known to them as Pop-Pop, Mel was a playful grandpa who spent his time making sure his grandchildren felt special. Mel was married to his sweetheart Kathie for 58 years. Together they raised three daughters. Mel had a passion for growing roses, was a dedicated Moose Lodge member for many years, enjoyed miniature trains, and cheered on his favorite teams, the Broncos and the Nuggets.

Mel is survived by his wife, Kathleen Green, daughters Tamara Green, Annette (Dale) Ruch, Jennifer (Mark) Dixon, grandchildren Alyse Infante, Kayla (Alex) Infante, Leslie (Colton) Wulf, Justin (Haley) Paxton, David Dixon, great-grandchildren Leo Infante, Camilla Pomales, his sister Karen (Bob) Cummings, and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Mel will be held on April 3, 2024, at 11 am at Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron St, Brush, CO 80723. A wake will follow at The Moose Lodge, 2310 Edison Street, Brush, CO 80723. All who knew and loved Mel are encouraged to come and share their stories dressed in their favorite Bronco or Nuggets gear.
