Melvin Gene Vangraefschepe, 66, lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at his home in Greeley. He was born March 23, 1949 in New Raymer to Leonard and Geraldine (Littlefield) Vangraefschepe. Melvin was a farmer in his earlier years, and enjoyed most things having to do with agriculture. He was a regular at the sale barn and various auctions in his neighborhood. Melvin was a major sports fan, which included most all of Colorado's professional teams. He was also a season ticket holder for some University of Northern Colorado events. Survivors include Virginia Sandoval whom he has been very close to for many years, two daughters, Sara Keen and husband Jason, of Donnybrook, North Dakota, and Rachel Gemmill and husband Scott of Tucson, Arizona, his mother, Geraldine Vangraefschepe of Greeley, two sisters, Glenda Baily and her husband Gary of Greeley, and Ruth Guldenpfennig and her husband Pete of Modesto, California, five brothers, David Vangraefschepe and his wife Nancy of Denver, Keith Vangraefschepe of Fort Morgan, Steven Vangraefschepe of Madison, Wisconsin, Stanley Vangraefschepe of San Francisco, California, and Ralph Vangraefschepe of Wiggins, Colorado, and three grandchildren, Morgan Keen, and Sydney and Bryce Gemmill. Graveside Memorial Services will be Monday, November 2, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the New Raymer Cemetery , in New Raymer, Colorado.
