MERTON LYNN JONES, 77, of Fort Morgan, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at his home. He was born in Boulder, CO on March 5, 1936 to Cecil & Mildred (Tower) Jones. He married Helen Jeannette Heil on September 15, 1962. The Jones' moved to Morgan County in 1979. Mert was a Shift Supervisor for Public Service (now Xcel's Pawnee Power Plant) for nearly 30 years before his retirement in 1994. Mert was a member of the P.B.O.E. Lodge #1143. He was an avid reader and he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Mert Especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Jean Jones of Fort Morgan; his son, Douglas Gene Jones and his wife, Cynthia of Brush; his daughter, Jodene Lynn DeKorte and her husband, Kevin of Fort Morgan; three sisters, Willa Combs of Boulder, Lois Burns of Longmont, and Nancy Leach of Escondido, CA; his brother, Michael Jones of Northglenn, CO; three grandchildren, Desirae Martin and her husband, Timothy of Brush, Gregory Jones of Brush, and Ashley Jones of Loveland. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Caelum, Joslyn, and Harlow Martin. Mert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol Neff; two brothers, Jimmy Jones and Richard Jones; and his son, Richard Karl Jones. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan on Thursday, June 6th from 4 - 6 PM. Graveside Services will be in Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., in Boulder on Friday, June 7th at 11:00 AM.
