Obituary

Michael "Mike" Jon Alexander, 66, passed away on March 23, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family, after a swift battle with pancreatic cancer.  He has been a farmer and rancher in the Washington and Morgan County area since his high school years.  He graduated from Woodlin High School in 1975.

Mike was born on October 29, 1957, to Robert and Betty (Voeller) Alexander.  He spent his younger years in the Black Forest Area near Colorado Springs, CO.  His love of farming and ranching started with his grandfather.  Once his grandfather passed away, he, along with his parents and brother moved into the area where his love of farming and ranching became his livelihood.

Mike married Tammie (Gleason) Alexander on June 6, 1987, in Brush Colorado.  That was when he was blessed to become the father of Mandy and Jill, who became the loves of his life.  In November 1988 they added a son, Cameron to whom he introduced the love of farming and ranching.  Cameron became his dad's sidekick and worked hard side by side on the farm.  This allowed for the expansion of the family farm.

Mike enjoyed his Tuesday and Thursday card nights.  He could be found every morning with his buddies eating breakfast, drinking coffee, and catching up on local gossip and current farming events.  He had breakfast every Sunday with the same crew for over 30 years.

It gave him joy to have any children out to the farm to share the love of farming and ranching.  Always ready to teach them about the cows, especially when they pitched in and helped with chores!   Although he loved all children, his world revolved around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  The days they visited him were his favorite.

Mike is survived by his wife, Tammie Alexander of Brush; daughters, Mandy (Al) Ocanas of Fort Morgan, and Jill (Brian) Duffy of Castle Rock; grandchildren, Kiana (Anthony) Martinez of Cheyenne, Ouray (Brianna) Ocanas of Fort Morgan, Travis (Jordan) Ocanas of Sterling, Shea Ocanas (Taylor Lynn) of Elizabeth, McKenna Duffy, and Cavanaugh Duffy of Castle Rock; great-grandchildren, Xavier Martinez of Cheyenne, Aria Ocanas of Fort Morgan and Nova Martinez of Cheyenne; his  mother-in-law, Pat Gleason of Brush and his brother, Dan (Daryll) Alexander of Colorado Springs.  He is also survived by many other close family and friends that are family.

Mike was proceeded in death by his son, Cameron Alexander; parents, Robert and Betty Alexander; father-in-law, Ronald Gleason and grandparents, Bruce and Eula Alexander.
