Michael Kelly Atwood was born in Loveland, Colorado on November 06, 1960, to Mr. and Mrs. Albin and Joan Atwood, Mike was the youngest of 3 sons.
Mike met his beloved wife Leresa Lee in 1996; they were married on November 15, 2008, at Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Morgan Colorado by Pastor Doug Trevithick. Mike and Lee have enjoyed 31 years of love together.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Albin and Joan Atwood, his eldest brother Jim, daughter Amber Lee Romkee, and his friends Frank Bourquin and Robert Dowdy. Mike is survived by his beloved wife Leresa Lee Atwood, his children: Terry L. Schroeder, Kathy A. Samuels, and his grandchildren: William, Aspen, Alyssa, Chris, Laurie, Lane and Lilli. Mike is also survived by his dear brother Sam Atwood and spouse Patti Atwood; his nephew, Merle and Family, Darlene, Jordan and spouse Scott; his Aunts Judy, Bundy and spouse Ken Bailey; his son-in-law Dave Romkee; sister-in-law's Nancy Atwood and Randa Blackbird, along with his mother-in-law, Terry S. Hendricks.
Mike worked for 25 years for Ramey Environmental Company, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne and Linda Ramey, both of whom Mike thought very highly of during his employment where he held the title of a double Class A Wastewater Treatment Operator. Mike was blessed with retirement in September of 2024.
Mike was an accomplished dirt bike rider; he enjoyed several trips to various locations with his dear friends. He too loved taking camping trips to the mountains, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. Mike loved his guns; he was an avid marksman and an excellent shot. Mike enjoyed a variety of music; he loved to sing and was a wonderful guitarist.
Mike's favorite pet was his cat; found in our garage and described by Mike as a beat-up scraggly little kitten, first known as a 'squinty eyed vicious little beast'. He eventually tamed and named his friend 'Doc', the two were the best of friends for 15 years. Mike and Doc would spend hours in the shop on the sofa reading gun magazines together.
Mike's dear friends were Dave Romkee, Dylan and Frank Bourquin, Keith and Kevin Hietbrink, Boogie, Heados, Randy and Jan Musgrave, Randy Doudy and Susan Bowarski.
Mike was deeply loved by his wife and family; he was a gentle man with a big heart, described by his daughter as a gentle giant. Mike worked hard and loved holidays with family. He was a quiet man who would sit and listen, providing comfort to all in times of trouble. He will be missed so very deeply and dearly. Mike loved The Lord and did his best to walk in His ways.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 14th at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 1120 State Street, Fort Morgan, CO. Refreshments will be served following the service.
