MICHAEL R. DEHERRERA, 60, former Brush resident, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at his home in Phoenix, AZ. Michael was born January 31, 1952 in Phoenix to Lucy Escabel and Joe DeHerrera. Michael was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Marine Corps. He worked in the oilfield in Colorado before returning to Arizona where he worked as a skilled electrician until his retirement. He enjoyed collecting knives and coins. Michael is survived by two daughters, Hilary Lancaster and her husband, Jeff and Gina Phelps and her husband, Jordan of Brush; his only son, Michael DeHerrera Jr. and his wife, Sarah of Fort Morgan; eight grandchildren, Tyra, Isaac, Ilyssa, Jeffrey, Joshua, Kenzie, Hailey and Macy, all of Brush; two brothers, Felix DeHerrera of Brush, and David DeHerrera of Phoenix; and two sisters, Mary Sierra of Illinois, Jenny Delao of Arizona; and his companion, Barb Frahm of Greeley. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Joe; his sisters, Rosalie Trujillo and Virginia Dennis; and his brothers, Larry DeHerrera and Cornelius DeHerrera. A memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 12th at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel, 222 Cameron Street in Brush. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Michael's memory and sent to Heer & Dahl Mortuary.
