Obituary

Michael " Digger " Johnson, 64, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at

North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley following a short illness. He was born

January 28, 1952, in Scottsbluff, NE, to Theodore & Marianna Johnson.

Mike attended Nebraska Western College and then attended and graduated from

Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1975. After working in funeral service

in Highland Park, IL for a few years, Mike came back and worked for the

Christensen Funeral Home, now known as Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home, then

Jolliffe Funeral Home, both in Bridgeport & Bayard, NE. In 2015, Mike moved to

Brush to be closer to his daughter & her family. While living in Brush, Mike

worked part time at the Heer Mortuary.

Mike ' s favorite time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He

enjoyed watching Nebraska Husker football, the New York Yankees, and riding in

the country with his friends checking farm crops.

Survivors include his 2 children, Erika (Kyle) Johnson of Brush and T. R. Johnson

of Bayard, NE; 4 sisters, Laurie (Guy) Spear of Winston-Salem, NC; Jan Nelson of

Scottsbluff, NE; Charlotte (Scott) Johnson-Welch of Fort Collins, CO, and Patricia

Johnson of Loveland, CO; 3 grandchildren, Brayden, Macie, and Kayla

Schmidtberger all of Brush, his former wife, Deborah Johnson of Lincoln, NE, and

numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and niece Mary Spear.

Memorials can be made in Mike ' s name to the Team Jack Foundation in care of

Heer Mortuary.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are

entrusted to the Heer Mortuary & Crematory.
