Michael J. Wahlert, 48, life resident of Brush, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017. He was born March 20, 1969, to Dale & Eunice Wahlert.

Michael (Mike) graduated from Brush High School in 1987, where he was a three sport athlete. He led the Brush Beetdiggers to a state championship in football. He attended Colorado University where he also played football. During his passing Michael worked at Xcel Energy Company – Pawnee Power Plant in Brush as a Mechanical Specialist (MSA).

On July 21, 2000, Michael and Kimberly (Bolken) Newman were united in marriage.   Michael enjoyed participating in and watching all sporting events. He was an avid golfer/bowler. His commitment to his LA Dodgers, Denver Broncos and Colorado Buffs was endless.   His positive attitude, passion for life and our Lord, was contagious and his energy blessed anyone he encountered. He also enjoyed telling stories, laughing and spending time with his friends and family. His favorite activities were traveling and adventuring with his wife and kids.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly; 3 children, Kolby, Ayla, and Melissa; his Mother, Eunice Wahlert (Terry Timko); his sister, Penni (Ted) Andersen; his parents – in – law, Gary & Tricia Bolken; his brother-in-law, Chris Bolken; 1 granddaughter, Mayleigh; nieces and nephews Niki, Reggie and Stephen (Brittney) Andersen, Wyatt and Caden Bolken; 1 great nephew, Paxton; and his beloved dog, LulaBelle. He was preceded in death by his Father, Dale Wahlert; his paternal grandparents, Bob & Eileen Wahlert, and his maternal grandparents, Laudis & Betty Kolman.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 1:30 PM at the Brush High School Auditorium. The service will conclude at the school. A continued celebration in honor of Michael will follow at The Course (Brush golf course). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are welcomed and will be accepted for the "Whales Strong" Michael J. Wahlert Memorial Scholarship fund in honor of Mike's journey c/o the Heer Mortuary.
