Michael (Mike) Henry Weimer, longtime area resident, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012, on his 61st birthday, after a short battle with cancer. He was born October 14, 1951 to Henry and Anna (Preston) Weimer. Mike graduated from Ft. Morgan High School in 1970. He was drafted in the military in May of 1971. He served in Germany. After being honorably discharged he returned to Ft. Morgan. He met Peggy Lawler in 1973 and they have been together for 39 years. Mike's greatest passion was hunting, fishing, and watching football. He loved spending time with his family, especially around the holidays. He worked at a variety of jobs in Casper, Wyoming and in Morgan County. He is best known for working at Morgan Community College for the last 15 years. Mike is survived by Peggy Lawler of Ft. Morgan, brothers and sisters, Karla Kelly of Brush, Susan (Dwight) Schreiner, Kenny (Jo) Weimer, David Weimer, Alan Weimer, and DeeAnn (Tim) Tixier, all of Ft. Morgan, and brother in law, Tom Lawler and sister in law Sue Carter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Weimer, and grandparents, Carl and Molly Weimer and Edwin and Lola Preston and one niece, Tracy Weimer. Memorial Services will be Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Serenity Falls Columbarium. Memorial Gifts may be made to the Mike Weimer Memorial in care of the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. The Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
