Michael W. Maloney, 55, life resident of Morgan & Washington Counties, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Medical Center of the Rockies after a 6 month illness. He was born July 15, 1954, in Akron, CO, to Willard & Ernestine Maloney. Prior to ill health forcing his retirement, Mike worked in the oil & gas exploration industry. Mike was not a person who could stay home, so during his illness, he worked in the maintenance department at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Brush. On October 2, 1992, Mike married Norma Martinez in Brush. Mike had a tender spot in his heart to help those less fortunate then he. He frequently gave money to help Special Olympic athletes, rescue missions and street people, disabled veteran organizations, etc. Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Brush; 3 children, Layla Maloney and Nakyia Maloney both of Brush; and Decatur Martinez of Denver, CO; 1 sister, Sue Mese of Fort Morgan; 2 brothers, Willard Maloney Jr. of California, and Joseph Maloney of Arizona and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Shea, and his parents. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 10, 2009, at 10:30 AM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush on Wednesday from 5 -7 PM.
