Mildred Eleanor Wendell was born, the third child of three, south of Wilcox, Nebraska in Harlan County on November 6, 1917. She entered life triumphant on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado at the age of 93 years. Mildred attended school in Wilcox, Nebraska where she graduated from High School. On December 17, 1937, Mildred Eleanor McNamara was united in marriage to Loren Dale Wendell in Kensington, Kansas. To this union, one son, Wayne Oliver Wendell was born. The family resided on a farm near Wilcox, Nebraska for many years. They also resided in Axtell, Nebraska and Denver, Colorado. Mildred later lived in Fort Morgan and Brush, Colorado. She was a member of the Wilcox Methodist Church and the Methodist Women's Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and LaVada McNamara; husband, Loren Wendell; sisters, Leta Nordbrock and Pearl Almquist; and a great grandson, Ryan Underwood. She is survived by her son, Wayne Wendell, and wife, Rochelle (Norblade); two granddaughters, Kristine Leigh Bensler and husband, William, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Keri Jean Underwood and husband, Carl, of Fort Morgan, Colorado; three great grandchildren, Dane Underwood and his fiance', Stephanie Brown, Tanner Underwood and Delaney Bensler. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the United Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan, Colorado. The service will conclude at the church. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Wilcox, Nebraska and inurnment will follow in the Wilcox Cemetery.
