Mitchell Jon Bostrom

Mitchell (Mitch) Jon Bostrom, 62, of Brush, passed away on September 19, 2026, at the Medical Center of the Rockies. He was born in Brush, Colorado, on February 4, 1964, the second of four children born to Kenneth and Corinne Bostrom. Mitch was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was deeply rooted in the community he always called home. 

Mitch grew up on the family farm, where his love of the outdoors, farming, and sports began. Summers were filled with showing cattle, hogs, and lambs at the Morgan County Fair, one of the highlights of his childhood. He especially looked forward to his cousins coming to visit their grandparents on the farm. There was always something going on, whether it was working on the farm, attending wrestling camps, or competing in wrestling tournaments around the area. 

His siblings and cousins will always remember his playful sense of humor and his talent for pulling a good prank. He was a relentless prankster who kept everyone on their toes, and that mischievous spirit stayed with him throughout his life. 

Mitch carried his strong work ethic into everything he did. At Brush High School, he was a three-sport athlete, earning All-State honors in football, wrestling, and track. He was proud of his accomplishments, but he was quick to recognize the teammates who helped make them possible. He had a sincere appreciation for his offensive line and track teammates and the important role they played in his success. 

Mitch married his high school sweetheart, Sheila, on February 18, 1984. In many ways, they were opposites. Sheila was a city girl from Boulder who knew very little about farming, while Mitch was a farm boy through and through. She was drawn to his kindness, his unusually strong work ethic, and his athleticism. They built a life that brought their differences together in all the best ways and raised three sons, Cole, Brett, and Hunter. Being a father was Mitch’s greatest joy. He supported his boys in everything they pursued, whether it was athletics, academics, music, or simply the things that made them happy. 

Some of Mitch’s favorite memories were the simple ones—spending time with his three boys, playing with them, carpet farming, and telling “Grither” stories to the boys and their friends. As they grew older, Mitch remained their biggest supporter. He never missed a sporting event or band concert and proudly watched each of his sons graduate from CSU. He was always there, cheering them on and taking great pride in the men they became. 

Mitch was a lifelong farmer who poured countless hours of hard work and passion into raising hogs and cultivating crops. He loved being outdoors and developed a special appreciation for nature, particularly birds. Farming was more than a livelihood to Mitch; it was a way of life that connected him to the land, his family, and the community he loved. 

Mitch was also a passionate sports fan. He faithfully followed college wrestling, CU and CSU football, rodeo, and always enjoyed a good Bronco game. He could always find something to watch, talk about, or cheer for. 

Although Mitch was a man who appreciated the simple pleasures of life, he was fortunate to travel abroad with his family on several occasions. Of all the things he saw, he especially enjoyed seeing farming and agricultural practices in Ireland and New Zealand. Trips to the family cabin with Sheila were another favorite. He enjoyed hiking, taking in the views, and throwing corn out on the porch to bring the wildlife in for a visit. 

Mitch will be remembered for his hard work, humor, love of family, and genuine appreciation for the simple things in life. Most of all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband and father who found his greatest happiness in the people he loved. 

Mitch is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sheila; his children, Cole, Brett (Corinne), and Hunter (Ashlyn); his grandchildren, Callum and Louise; his mother, Corinne; his brother, Michael (Candy); and his sisters, Michelle (Marc) and Maren. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth. 

Funeral Service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, on Tuesday, September 29, at 11 a.m. Please join the family for lunch immediately following the service.
