Obituary

BRUSH, CO - Nancy Westerhouse, age 66, my love and my life the past 13 years, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014. Nancy lived her life the same way she battled Parkinson's for the past seven years - with hope, faith and determination. At that the time of Nancy's peaceful passing; she was a resident of Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. A Celebration of Life for Nancy's Colorado family and friends will begin with a visitation and viewing Sunday, Nov. 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. After the visitation, Nancy will be taken to her hometown, Faribault, MN, for the Celebration of Life visitation and funeral with her northern family and friends. The visitation and funeral scheduled for next week in Faribault are being coordinated by Boldt Funeral Home and First English Lutheran Church - the church in which Nancy was born, baptized, confirmed and married. Following the service, Nancy will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault next to her first husband, John Westerhouse, who passed away in 1999. Nancy was born August 14, 1948, in Faribault, the daughter of Merlin and Betty Dierking. She graduated from Faribault High School in 1966 and later attended college. After college, Nancy began a rewarding 30-year career working with blind children (her boys) as a Residential Program Lead for the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind in Faribault. Nancy retired in 2005. Before Nancy's battle with Parkinson's began in 2007 she enjoyed cooking and golfing - the sport that brought us together in 2001. Christmas was always her favorite holiday - a time with her family that she planned for months in advance and carried out to perfection. Cherished memories of Nancy will be enjoyed by I and her sons; Christopher Westerhouse and friend Kelle Romstadt of Faribault, Robert Westerhouse, his wife Lori and their son Ryan of Lonsdale, MN. Nancy is also survived by her two brothers; David Dierking and his wife Imelda of Hanford, CA, and Gary Dierking and friend Lori Glende of Faribault. Also very special to Nancy was her granddaughter Samantha Westerhouse and her friend Matthew of Faribault; and my children; Nikki Berg, her husband Ryan and sons Jordan, Alec and Ethan of Rosemount, MN, and Bill Holland and his wife Janis from Clive, IA. Also remembering and greatly missing Nancy will be her beloved Golden Retriever, Rocky, who Nancy adopted from Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies in 2009. There to meet Nancy in Heaven with tails wagging will be her five previous Retrievers she loved and adored; Sam, Annie, Jack, Bud and Jackson. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and John. She has now joined them along with her Grandma Nelson who taught Nancy how to cook, and Roberta Hansen, Nancy's lifelong friend who passed away in the fall of 2014. Memorials are suggested to Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center. Written by her life partner William "Bill" Holland, Vice-President of Sales for Great Copier Service and former publisher of The Fort Morgan Times.
