Neoma Knight, 79, life resident of the Genoa & Woodrow communities, passed away Friday evening at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born on the family farm near Genoa, on December 12, 1926, to Clayton & Letha Nickell. She graduated from the Woodrow High School. On October 14, 1944, Neoma married James A. Knight in St. Francis, KS. When James left to serve in the US Army during WW II, Neoma received her teaching certificate and taught school for several years in the Abbott school. She was brought up and attended the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Genoa. She enjoyed quilting with the Last Chance Quilters, and doing "fancy work" including sewing, crocheting, craft work, and quilting, and she enjoyed sharing her garden produce with neighbors and friends. Neoma & Jim spent several winters in Apache Junction and Neoma enjoyed the many activities at the Country Side Mobile Park in Apache Junction. She also enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include her husband, James, of Woodrow; 6 children, James Knight Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Letha Kitchin of Woodrow, Beverly Owens of Branson, MO, Pam Knight – Tippit of Greeley, Kelly Knight of Omaha, NE, and Amy Hendrix of Arvada, CO; 2 brothers, Russell Nickell of Fort Morgan and Larry Nickell of Karval, CO; 5 sisters, Iris Riley and Joyce Riley both of Brush, Dorothy Nagel and Lynne Randolph both of Limon, and Donna Smiley of Thornton, CO. Also by 15 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Pat, 1 brother, Jerry, 1 grandson, Cody Tippit, and 1 great granddaughter, Brittney Kitchin, and her parents. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at the Woodlin School Auditorium at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be in the Abbott Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
