NICHOLAS JAMES SILZ, 55, owner of Silz Farms, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, November 27, 2008 at his home in Fort Morgan. Nick is the son of Heinz & Thea (Groves) Silz and was born November 28, 1952 at the Fort Morgan Community Hospital. He married Susan Nelson in Fort Morgan on May 16, 1976. Nick was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed a good game of golf and spent many hours working on his farm. Survivors include his wife, Sue Silz of Fort Morgan; two sons, Matthew Silz and Layton Silz, both of Fort Morgan; three daughters, Lindsey Silz of Tallahassee FL, Alyson Silz of Fort Collins, and Haleigh Silz of Fort Morgan; and two grandchildren, Anson Silz and Livian Silz of Fort Morgan. He is also survived by three brothers, Heinz Silz of Golden, Martin Silz of Fort Morgan, and Danny Silz of Wheatridge; two sisters, Sheila Monroe of Hemphill, TX, and Janet Montel of Fort Morgan; his parents, Heinz & Thea Silz of Fort Morgan; and his mother-in-law, Gloria Nelson of Russell, KS. Nick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Theodore & Hazel Groves and his paternal grandparents, Otto & Anna Marie Silz; and his father-in-law, W.L. Nelson. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 3rd from 4 – 7 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, Dec 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Sherman St., Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of arrangements.
